Nalidixic Acid is a synthetic quinolone and antibacterial agent against most gram-negative organisms that cause urinary tract infections. It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, however. Nalidixic acid inhibiting DNA synthesis during bacterial replication in a dose-dependent manner by interference of DNA gyrase activity.
